Sea transportation is one of the most economical ways to ship dangerous goods.
However, strict rules apply through the SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) agreement and the International Marine Organization (IMO). International shipments must therefore comply with both the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG) and national transportation regulations.
This comprehensive Shipping by Sea, IMDG course has been developed for the 2010 IMDG code including amendment 35-10. Upon completion of this course, students will be issued a certification which holds an expiry of 3 years.
As identified in the IMDG Code and by International Governmental agencies, at a minimum, the following personnel require General Awareness and familiarization training who:
- Classify dangerous goods and identify Proper Shipping Names of Dangerous goods;
