It is a recommendation, not a law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGHS\u201d is an acronym for Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals.<\/p>\n<p>The GHS is a system for standardizing and harmonizing the classification and labeling of chemicals. It is a logical and comprehensive approach to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Defining health, physical and environmental hazards of chemicals;<\/li>\n<li>Creating classification processes that use available data on chemicals for comparison with the defined hazard criteria; and<\/li>\n<li>Communicating hazard information, as well as protective measures, on labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=&#8221;no-extra-padding&#8221; column_padding_position=&#8221;all&#8221; background_color_opacity=&#8221;1&#8243; background_hover_color_opacity=&#8221;1&#8243; column_shadow=&#8221;none&#8221; column_border_radius=&#8221;none&#8221; column_link_target=&#8221;_self&#8221; width=&#8221;5\/12&#8243; tablet_width_inherit=&#8221;default&#8221; overlay_strength=&#8221;0.3&#8243; column_border_width=&#8221;none&#8221; column_border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221; bg_image_animation=&#8221;none&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>GHS affects<\/strong>\u00a0hazard communication in the workplace. It\u00a0<em><strong>does not affect<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0the transportation regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Hazard communication standards are in\u00a0<strong>the OSHA regulations, 29 CFR, part 1910.1200<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hazard communication<\/strong>\u00a0or &#8220;hazcom&#8221; affects labeling, safety data sheets and training in the workplace.
