Below are some suggestions to keep you and your family healthy and safe.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Practice Safe Driving.<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0 At this time of year, it is dark or twilight when people go to work and come home.\u00a0 This is also an active time for many animals.\u00a0 People are generally more active as well with the cooler weather.\u00a0 Do not drive after you have been drinking at say a Halloween party.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Furnace readiness.<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0 If needed have the heating system and furnace checked or serviced.\u00a0 Be sure nothing is near or close to it.\u00a0 Chimneys and vents should also be cleaned and checked for leaks.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Campfires and Fire Pits.<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0 Know if having one is legally allowed in your area.\u00a0 The recommendation is that fires should be at least 25 feet away from any building or structure.\u00a0 To prevent issues with flames or embers, do not burn on windy days. Always have someone tend to the fire and keep children at a safe distance.\u00a0 If necessary, remember to follow the stop, drop, and roll method.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide (CO) Monitors.<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0 Both should be checked to ensure that they are working properly.\u00a0 This is also a good time to replace the batteries.\u00a0 A good way to remember is to do this when the time changes in the spring and fall.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Portable Space Heaters.\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Do not use any that have frayed cords or broken plugs.
