You can\u2019t just show up at the airport and check in your motorcycle. Did you know that a motorcycle is considered to be a dangerous good? Under the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecompliancecenter.com\/ca\/product-category\/publications\/iata\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IATA regulations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a motorcycle is classified as UN 3166, Vehicle flammable liquid powdered, hazard class 9; and therefore needs a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecompliancecenter.com\/ca\/product-category\/forms\/shipping-by-air-declaration\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shipper\u2019s declaration form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What does this mean to the average motorcycle enthusiast? It means that you need to seek the advice of a dangerous goods consultant, who specializes and can assist in providing instruction on the preparation of the motorcycle, and provide the proper signed shipper\u2019s declaration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aircanada.com\/cargo\/en\/shipping\/shipping-solutions\/ac-dgr\/#tab_motorcycle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to Air Canada<\/a>, some of the requirements at time of tender include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fuel tank must be drained as far as practical; and fuel must NOT exceed \u00bc of the tank capacity<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All batteries must be installed and securely fastened in the battery holder of the vehicle and be protected in such a manner as to prevent damage and short circuits<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spare key, to be left in the ignition<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alarm (theft-protection devices, installed radio communications equipment or navigational systems must be disabled<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Air waybill number (booking number)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saddle bags may be filled with equipment, parts, etc. An itemized list of the content of the saddle bags must be provided at time of tender.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Personal effects such as clothing, toiletries and luggage cannot accompany the motorbike.
