But it\u2019s not just cell phone use that distracts drivers from the road &#8211; setting a GPS, adjusting instrument controls, eating, drinking, and even smoking are all dangerous activities that can lead to crashes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Society leads us to believe that multitasking is an achievement, but when it comes to driving, it poses quite the hazard.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are some tips from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fmcsa.dot.gov\/safety\/driver-safety\/cmv-driving-tips-driver-distraction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Tip 1:<\/strong> Do not let objects outside of your truck\/vehicle distract you<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Tip 2:<\/strong> Do not text while driving<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Tip 3:<\/strong> Do not use a dispatching device while driving<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Tip 4:<\/strong> Do not dial a handheld phone while driving<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Tip 5:<\/strong> Do not read, write, or use paper maps while driving<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Tip 6:<\/strong> Avoid eating and drinking while driving<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While many of us are on the road for personal driving, millions of drivers on the road are for work. Sales personnel driving cars to truck drivers hauling heavy loads across the country. As an employer, or even an employee, develop a company policy on distracted driving and to increase awareness of the risks.
