In general, the CDC<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0recommends washing your hands often, and especially during the following key times:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Before, during, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><b> after<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> preparing food<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Before<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>after<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> eating food<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Before <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><b> after <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">caring for someone at home who is sick with vomiting or diarrhea<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Before <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><b> after<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> treating a cut or wound<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>After<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> using the toilet<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>After<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>After <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>After<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> touching an animal, animal feed, or animal waste<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>After <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">handling pet food or pet treats<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>After<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> touching garbage<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additional measures should be considered to help prevent the spread of germs during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Wash your hands, or use hand sanitizer (more on the use of hand sanitizer shortly), BEFORE and AFTER:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Touching your eyes, nose, or mouth<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Touching your mask<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entering and leaving a public place<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Touching an item or surface that may be frequently touched by other people, such as door handles, tables, gas pumps, shopping carts, or electronic cashier registers\/<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">screen<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Soap and Water vs. Hand Sanitizer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While hand sanitizer can be quick and more portable than your sink, it is unfortunately less effective than soap and water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If it\u2019s at least 60% alcohol, hand sanitizers can disinfect according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucihealth.org\/blog\/2020\/04\/soap-vs-sanitizer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UCI Health<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but it cannot remove all types of bacteria and viruses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hand sanitizers work best in clinical settings where hands are not heavily soiled or greasy and of course are better than nothing if it\u2019s the only available option.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How To Wash Your Hands<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many government agencies and health organizations have created steps and infographics to increase knowledge on the proper method of washing your hands. The following is from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/public-health\/services\/publications\/diseases-conditions\/reduce-spread-covid-19-wash-your-hands.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Government of Canada<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 1: Wet hands with water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 2: Apply soap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 3: While hands are out of water, rub hands together for at least 20 seconds (including your palms, back of each hand, between fingers, thumbs and under nails).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 4: Rinse well with water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 5: Dry hands well with a paper towel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 6: Turn off the tap using a paper towel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-875760\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thecompliancecenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/ICC_Handwashing101_001.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"947\" height=\"508\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consider posting the above infographic or something similar in your workplace as a visual reminder to everyone.
