Smoke alarms should be installed in every sleeping room and should be checked monthly to make sure they are working properly by pressing the test button. If your smoke alarm is making a \u201cchirp\u201d noise that likely means that you need a new battery and to replace it immediately. Ideally, you want to make sure everyone in the home knows the sound of the alarm, and what exactly to do if it goes off. The NFPA has a great checklist at this <strong>link <\/strong>when creating your home escape plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span
