OSHA Top 10 Safety Violations for 2022<\/h2>\n

As they have in the past, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), Department of Labor released their Top 10 OSHA Violations at the National Safety Council conference in San Diego.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Top 10 has remained mostly unchanged, a<\/span>s reported by OHS Canada. Their full article can be found <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The list this year includes:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

10. Machine Guarding: 1,370 violations<\/span>
\n9.\u00a0 Personal Protective and Lifesaving Equipment: Eye and Face Protection: 1,401 violations<\/span>
\n8.\u00a0 Fall Protection \u2013 Training Requirements: 1,556 violations<\/span>
\n7.\u00a0 Powered Industrial Trucks: 1,749 violations<\/span>
\n6.\u00a0 Lockout\/Tagout: 1,977 violations<\/span>
\n5.\u00a0 Scaffolding: 2,058 violations<\/span>
\n4.\u00a0 Ladders: 2,143 violations<\/span>
\n3.\u00a0 Respiratory Protection: 2,185 violations<\/span>
\n2.\u00a0 Hazard Communication: 2,424 violations<\/span>
\n1.\u00a0 Fall Protection \u2013 General Requirements: 5,260 violations<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Hazard Communication standard can be found in <\/span>29 <\/span><\/a>CFR Part 1910.12000<\/span> (https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/hazcom). This part of the OSHA regulations includes <\/span>creating an employee training plan<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>creating\/maintaining Safety Data Sheets<\/span><\/a>, and having <\/span>container\/workplace labels<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to OSHA, more than 32 million workers and 3.5 million workplaces are exposed to hazardous chemicals each year. The Hazard Communication Standard found in 29 CFR Part 1910.1200 is a \u201cRight-to-Know\u201d law. That means that employees have a right to know what they are exposed to and the dangers involved.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Employers who create a Hazard Communication program that includes training, safety data sheets, and container labels empower employees to learn the hazards and take appropriate precautions.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
