Bien que le chapitre\u00a05.4 des <em>Recommandations sur le transport des marchandises dangereuses de l\u2019<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/unece.org\/transport\/publications\/recommendations-transport-dangerous-goods-model-regulations-rev22\"><em>ONU<\/em><\/a> ait autoris\u00e9 la transmission technique EDI comme \u00ab\u00a0solution de rechange \u00e0 la documentation papier\u00a0\u00bb, tous les pays ne vont pas de l&#8217;avant avec ce concept. De nombreux pays d&#8217;Europe occidentale ont commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 autoriser les documents \u00e9lectroniques, comme le Royaume-Uni, l&#8217;Allemagne et la France. Le d\u00e9partement des Transports des \u00c9tats-Unis s&#8217;est montr\u00e9 tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ress\u00e9 par les r\u00e9sultats de cette \u00e9tude et par la mani\u00e8re dont elle peut \u00eatre appliqu\u00e9e aux \u00c9tats-Unis.
