While fire safety is important all year long, this month provides an opportunity to revisit essential practices at home, at work, and in our communities.<\/p>\n<p>Fire remains one of the most preventable hazards, yet it continues to cause devastating losses.<\/p>\n<p>According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Home fires claim thousands of lives every year.<\/li>\n<li>Cooking remains the leading cause of household fires.<\/li>\n<li>Smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a fire nearly in half.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fire Safety Month isn\u2019t just about awareness; it\u2019s about action.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Fire Safety at Home<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Simple steps can dramatically reduce risk:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Test smoke alarms monthly and replace batteries at least once a year.<\/li>\n<li>Create and practice a home escape plan with at least two exits from every room.<\/li>\n<li>Keep fire extinguishers accessible, especially in the kitchen and garage.<\/li>\n<li>Stay alert while cooking, never leave stoves or ovens unattended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Fire Safety in the Workplace<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Workplaces also carry unique risks depending on the environment\u2014whether it\u2019s an office, warehouse, or manufacturing site.
