Canadian regulations assign clear responsibilities to suppliers of hazardous materials, as well as employers who require their workers to handle such products.

The WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) mandates product labeling, safety data sheets (SDSs), and training to ensure workers are properly informed of the dangers in the workplace and how to avoid them. Whether you are a chemical supplier, employer, importer, supervisor, or simply a worker involved in the day-to-day handling of chemicals, you must know about WHMIS 2015.

GHS (USA or Canada) Classification 3-Day Training

Classification under GHS can be very overwhelming. Each chemical needs to be classified on its own for both physical and health hazards, then you must determine what category the chemical falls into. Mixtures are even more complex. When do you apply the bridging principles? How do you calculate the acute toxicity data? What in the world is an M factor?

Required publications are included in price.

These questions and more will be addressed in our 3-day classification course. Upon completion of this class, students will understand how to classify both pure chemicals and mixtures under OSHA Hazcom 2012 or WHMIS 2015.

Topics covered:

  • Physical hazards
  • Health hazards
  • Environmental hazards
  • responsibilities for classification
  • The supplier
  • The employer
  • The worker
