Mandatory Site Registration in the TDG Client Identification Database

As of October 25, 2024, Transport Canada has made it mandatory for all Canadian sites involved in the shipping, receiving, or handling of dangerous goods to register in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Client Identification Database (CID). This new requirement applies nationwide, ensuring every location engaged in TDG activities is properly identified and compliant.

In a major advancement for industry users, Transport Canada has announced that the CID registration system will soon be integrated with the CANUTEC platform. This enhancement establishes a single, streamlined portal for organizations to manage both their site registrations and CANUTEC 24-hour emergency number services.

The integration aims to simplify compliance and improve accessibility across all TDG-related systems. Through the updated TDG Online Portal, users will gain:

  • Manage multiple organizations under a single login.
  • Access and review existing CID registrations more efficiently.
  • Simplify administrative steps for compliance.

When the enhanced platform launches, organizations currently registered in CID will receive an official invitation to access the new TDG Online Portal, along with reminder notifications sent one month before the transition.

This integration marks a significant step forward in aligning digital compliance systems, making it easier for regulated parties to stay connected, informed, and compliant under the TDG framework.
