What’s Happening with Hazardous Materials in the Second Quarter of 2025?
The second quarter of 2025 has some important news regarding hazardous materials transport and hazard communication. Some topics we’ll discuss include:
- The U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) launches a new registration system for carriers. What does that mean to American hazmat drivers?
- The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) issued notice of “enforcement discretion” regarding real-time train consists for hazardous materials.
- Canada and the U.S. are phasing out the use of Class 111 tank cars for Class 3 flammable liquids, but there are differences between the two countries? What tank cars can be used in each country?
- Transport Canada has published a new packaging standard for Canadian dangerous goods in small containers. But there’s a catch – it’s published, but not yet in force. What changes will we see in the new standard?
